What Yappy is and how downloading works there
Yappy is a Russian short vertical video service, a domestic TikTok analog by Gazprom-Media. Like other video platforms, you can save clips to your device here, but the built-in save leaves a watermark with the Yappy logo and the author's username. Below are all the ways to download a clip, including without the watermark.
Method 1: save through the Yappy app
The built-in way is the simplest:
- Open the clip you need in the app.
- Tap the Share button.
- Choose Save video — the clip downloads to your gallery.
This gives you a file with a watermark. It's legal and safe, nothing threatens your account. If the author restricted downloading, the Save button won't appear.
Method 2: download without watermark
To remove the watermark people use online downloaders — the same scheme as for other platforms:
- In the Yappy app tap Share → Copy link.
- Open an online Yappy video downloader in your browser.
- Paste the link and choose the "No watermark" option.
- Save the ready file.
Don't enter your Yappy login details on such sites and don't install apps they offer — only the link to the clip is needed to download.
Method 3: screen recording
If a clip is protected from downloading, built-in screen recording helps: on iPhone via the Control Center, on Android via the shade. Play the video full screen and record it. There will be no Yappy watermark on the recording, but the quality will be slightly below the original, and the sound needs to be recorded together with the picture.
Is it legal
You may download other people's clips for personal viewing, but publishing them under your own name violates copyright. If you want to move content to another network, use only your own videos or get the author's permission. You can download your own clips without restrictions.
What to do with the clip after downloading
Usually videos are saved to re-upload them to TikTok, Reels or VK Clips. But moving a clip to a new platform doesn't guarantee views: algorithms are cautious toward fresh accounts. For a video to catch on in recommendations it needs initial reach — a boost of views and likes helps gather it. A small push at the start increases the chance the clip lands in the recommendations feed and starts growing organically.
