Before you delete — what you lose
Deleting a Yappy account removes more than the profile: videos, followers, comments and the entire activity history go with it. Once the waiting period ends, none of that can be restored. So the first step is exporting to your gallery any videos you would hate to lose — if the source files are not on your phone, there will be nowhere to get them later. How to save clips is covered in how to download videos from Yappy.
How to delete the account
- Open the app and go to the profile tab.
- Open settings from the menu in the corner of the screen.
- Find the account management section.
- Choose profile deletion and confirm the decision.
- Confirm your identity with an SMS code if asked.
After confirmation the profile stops appearing in the app, but it is usually still stored on the service side for a while — that is the waiting period, during which the decision is reversible.
What the waiting period means
Platforms rarely erase an account instantly: first it goes into a "marked for deletion" state, and only then the data is removed for good. The practical meaning is that you can change your mind — but not indefinitely. While the period runs, the profile still exists even though it looks gone from the outside: the videos are not shown in the feed and the page is unavailable to other users.
How to recover the profile
If you changed your mind, simply try logging in the same way as before — that is usually enough to cancel deletion. If login fails and the waiting period should not have expired yet, a support request remains: state the profile nickname, the linked number and the approximate deletion date. The less time has passed, the better your chances. Once the period ends, recovery is no longer guaranteed.
How to hide the account instead of deleting it
Deletion is usually an excessive solution. If the goal is to disappear from the feed and keep a low profile, it is enough to make the profile private in privacy settings or hide individual videos. Followers and content stay in place and you can come back any time — unlike deletion, which is irreversible. The same solution fits when you need a break without losing the audience you built.
Coming back after a break
A profile that stayed silent for a long time gets a cool reception: old followers have lost the habit and the algorithm is sizing the account up again. A comeback is best started with a series of short videos on one topic to give a clear signal. The first videos after a pause almost always lack starting reactions — this is where views and followers delivered gradually help: they bring the clips back into impressions, and from there the content decides.
