Why you need a second account
People usually set up a second Yappy profile for two reasons. The first is separate topics: the feed responds poorly when dancing, reviews and family videos are mixed in one account, and the algorithm copes better when a profile has a single theme. The second is separating private from public: one account for friends, another for videos aimed at a wide audience. Less often a second profile is kept for testing formats without risking the main one.
What you need before you start
The main limitation is the login link. One phone number belongs to one profile, so a second account needs a separate login:
- a second phone number — a virtual one works if SMS arrives there reliably;
- an alternative login through a linked service, if available in your app version.
Decide this in advance: changing the link on an existing profile is harder than choosing it at the start.
How to create a second profile
- Open the app and go to the profile tab.
- Open settings from the menu in the corner of the screen.
- Find account management and choose to add a new one.
- Register the same way you signed up the first time, but with a different number.
- Fill in the profile right away: avatar, nickname and bio, so the account does not look abandoned.
If the add option is missing, update the app from the store: older builds have a different menu and may lack the section.
A second account through app cloning
Xiaomi, Samsung and Huawei phones have built-in app cloning — it creates a second copy of Yappy, and both profiles run in parallel, each with its own notifications. The method is convenient when both accounts are active and you switch often. iOS has no cloning, so there only in-app account adding remains.
How to switch without confusing yourself
Switching lives where adding does: the profile opens a list of accounts and you pick the one you need without entering a code again. A useful habit is checking which profile you are posting from: the wrong account means a video shown to the wrong audience and reach thrown away. If the app keeps "forgetting" the second profile, make sure the login is tied to a working number rather than a disposable one.
How not to start from zero every time
A second account always starts with no history: no followers, no trust from the algorithm. At first videos are shown to a very narrow audience — that is normal and passes with regular posting. Getting the first followers speeds this up, and so does a little starting reach: views and followers delivered gradually give a new profile its first activity signals, after which the feed shows the videos more widely.
