Name and username on Likee — what's the difference
On Likee you actually have two "names" and they are often confused. Your display name is what everyone sees in your profile and under your videos; it can be the same for different people and contain spaces, emoji, any characters. The unique ID (username) is your @username address: it's one of a kind across the whole platform, people find you by it and links point to it. You can change both, but the rules differ.
How to change your display name
This is the simplest operation, with almost no restrictions:
- Open the app and go to your profile (the "Me" tab).
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap the "Name" field and enter a new one.
- Save the changes.
The new name appears right away. You can use emoji and symbols, but it's better to keep it readable — that makes you easier to remember and find.
How to change your unique ID (username)
Changing the @username happens in the same profile editor, but with caveats:
- In Edit profile find the Likee ID or Username field.
- Enter your preferred handle in Latin letters and digits, no spaces.
- If it's free — save it; if it's taken, the app will let you know.
Important: the unique ID can be changed a limited number of times (often once per a set period). So pick your handle carefully to avoid waiting for the next chance.
What to do if the username is taken
Popular short handles are almost always gone. If your preferred @username is unavailable, try adding a dot, an underscore or a short topical suffix. A good handle is short, easy to pronounce and matches your username on other networks — that way your audience recognizes you everywhere.
How often you can change the name
The display name can usually be edited as often as you like, but the unique ID rarely, with intervals. Frequent name changes also hurt promotion: regular viewers stop recognizing you in the feed, and links to the old ID stop working. Change your handle only when you really need to — for example during an account rebrand.
Changed the name — how to lock in the new image
A name change often goes hand in hand with an account refresh: new avatar, header, a consistent video style. So the updated profile doesn't get lost, it helps to back it with activity — post fresh videos and give them initial reach. A little boost of followers and views helps the new image settle into recommendations and gather its first audience under the new name faster.
